Here is what I know, teaching is one of the greatest jobs a person can do. Where did it all begin for Cherie'? As a Navy Brat I have lived in many different places. The most unusual place was Cuba which is a really fun place when you are a child. Although I was born in Rhode Island I grew up mostly in San Diego where I met and married my high school sweetheart Scott. We moved up to Cayucos in 1982 to help out Scott's grandparent in a woodcraft business. While working in the family business I had the opportunity to attend Cuesta College and later Cal Poly University.
After finishing school I was hired to teach at Sinsheimer Elementary in a 4-6th grade SDC class. I later moved over to Sunnyside where I got the privilege to work with K-6th grade students. When Sunnyside closed I moved over to Baywood and have loved being part of this community. When asked what my favorite grade to teach is I have to reply that I love unique attributes of each grade K-5. I get so excited about children learning new things and seeing how much they have grow within the span on a school year. One of my favorite expressions I hear from students is "Wow, this is what I use to do and now look what I can do!"
When I am not teaching I am a busy parent of a 9 year old Baywood Bear, Jesse and wife to my husband of 31 years, Scott. Jesse keeps me young and inspired through hours of laughter and crazy boy fun like karate and baseball. We enjoy family camp trips, weekend car shows (Scott has built a hot rod Nova), going to the mountains in the winter, and we love going on beach walks after stormy weather. I feel so fortunate to live on the Central Coast and to teach at Baywood.
