Principal's Message

I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Baywood Elementary, the home to over 300 wonderful students and families from preschool to fifth grade. Baywood is a unique neighborhood school that offers a number of engaging educational programs. Students can be found exploring and building in our "Makerspace" lab or getting their hands dirty with STEAM activities outside in our garden. We are committed to provide academic excellence where we are meeting the needs of all of our students.

In Fall 2020, our incoming Kindergarten class  transitioned to a dual immersion Spanish and English program. We are so excited for this opportunity for our students! Instruction is 90% in Spanish and 10% in English. As that cohort of students advances to 1st grade, they will learn 80% in Spanish and 20% in English, 2nd grade 70% Spanish, 30% English, and so on, until a 50%/50% Spanish/English ratio is reached in 4th and 5th grade.

Our hard working teachers and staff work together to provide a quality education for each and every student. They are dedicated to developing relationships with each student, while also creating a fun and engaging learning environment where students love to come to school!

We welcome parents as an important part of their child's educational journey. We love having volunteers and community support and involvement. Together we make a great team to ensure student success. We encourage you to join the PTA and invite you to be an active part of your child's education.

Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us. We look forward to partnering with you for a great school year.
