Principal's Message

Welcome to Baywood Elementary! We are an amazing school with over 300 students from Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade serving the families of our coastal communities in Los Osos and Morro Bay. We believe in the whole child, honoring and celebrating all cultures and backgrounds while working to ensure each child meets their full potential with a commitment to student growth. We provide enriching academic opportunities including STEAM classes, Innovate lessons, integrated units with History & Science, as well as social-emotional learning through Second Steps. Students also learn about the 6 Pillars of Character: Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Trustworthiness, Respect, and Citizenship.

Baywood has a long history of a strong and engaging school community. We take pride in our partnership with families and we welcome parents as an important part of their student’s education. We love having volunteers and community support and involvement.

We launched our Dual Language Immersion Program in the fall of 2020 with our Kindergarten classes. We are now in our fourth year of implementation and follow the 90/10 model where kindergarteners learn in Spanish 90% of their day and in English 10%. In first grade the languages are 80/20 and so on until students learn in Spanish and English 50/50 in Fourth and Fifth grades. We welcome you to come check out our program! Please call our office for more information and enrollment procedures.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to partnering with you for a great school year!
